On February 28, 2022, Qualcomm announced the launch of two new ultra-low-power wireless audio platforms with rich features, Qualcomm S5 audio platform (QCC517x) and Qualcomm S3 audio platform (QCC307x), both of which support Snapdragon Sound™ Snapdragon listening technology. Both platforms are optimized and support dual Bluetooth modes, combining classic Bluetooth ® wireless audio with the new LE Audio technology standard.
James Chapman, Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm’s Voice, Music and Wearables Business, said: “By leveraging the Snapdragon 8 mobile platform, Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 and newly released FastConnect 7800 connectivity system, and Snapdragon Sound Snapdragon listening technology, we will bring the ultimate wireless audio experience.” For example, in addition to being the first to provide support for lossless audio, we’ve added ultra-low latency game modes with in-game voice chat, as well as the ability to record stereo content for earbuds, which we believe will bring tremendous value to a new generation of creators. On these compact platforms, we integrate Qualcomm adaptive active noise reduction technology in dedicated hardware modules, so that no matter what the user is listening to, they can experience a substantial improvement in noise reduction. ”
THESE TWO NEW PLATFORMS PROVIDE AUDIO OEMS WITH BROAD FLEXIBILITY TO ENABLE PRODUCT CUSTOMIZATION AT MULTIPLE LEVELS AND OPEN UP MORE DESIGN POSSIBILITIES, AND AUDIO DEVICES USING THESE TWO NEW PLATFORMS CAN SUPPORT MORE FEATURES, INCLUDING:
• Snapdragon Sound Snapdragon Listening Technical Support:
•16-bit 44.1kHz CD-class lossless Bluetooth sound;
•24-bit 96kHz ultra-high-definition Bluetooth sound quality;
•32kHz ultra-wideband voice supports ultra-clear calls;
•bring stereo recording function to creators, so that the recorded content has a stereo effect;
•robust connectivity even in complex rf environments;
•audio latency as low as 68ms in game mode and support for voice sync callback.
▪ Dual Bluetooth mode with integrated LE Audio for audio sharing and broadcasting;
▪ multi-point Bluetooth wireless connection, supporting easy and seamless switching between audio source devices;
▪ the 3rd generation of qualcomm adaptive active noise reduction technology, equipped with natural transmission mode;
compared to the previous generation of Qualcomm wireless audio platforms, the new platform enables a rich user experience thanks to an integer increase in computing power due to the enhanced platform architecture and uncompromising ultra-low-power performance.
Currently, the Qualcomm S5 Audio Platform (QCC517x) and Qualcomm S3 Audio Platform (QCC307x) are sampling from customers, and commercial products are expected to be available in the second half of 2022.
