Honor, as it is correct to call it after the separation from Huawei, does not cease to demonstrate that it is going to become a leader in the world of smartphones. As for the camera, its parent company used to cope with this confidently, but in two and a half years the situation has changed a lot. Now, either using the achievements of Huawei or having developed something of its own, the company has risen to the first line of the camera rating. Many may not believe in it, but an obvious deception has never been noticed there. If the phone is at the top, then it deserves plus or minus this particular place.

Last month, Honor announced its flagship honor magic4 series smartphones for the global market, and now the company has announced another model in the lineup for the Chinese market – Honor Magic4 Ultimate.
This is not just another “tube”, but the top model in the Magic4 series. Among other improvements, the smartphone received improved camera characteristics. Usually, this becomes possible not only due to the adoption of a good sensor, but also well-developed software. After all, it turns the stream of data collected from the matrix into a photo. This is not film shooting, where the picture is displayed on the medium as is. In the era of computational photography, the matrix sees something, and the smartphone thinks how beautiful it is to present. Roughly, in a nutshell, it is.
As a result of the improvements known only to Honor itself, the camera of its new phone was able to score 146 points in the DXoMark rating. This is even more than the Huawei P50 Pro, the review of which was recently released on our website. Even if you do not believe this rating, which several times gave reason to doubt yourself, such an achievement can still not be overlooked.

Of the main characteristics, it is worth noting that honor Magic4 Ultimate is equipped with a 6.81-inch OLED display LTPO with a resolution of 2848×1312 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate with a maximum value of up to 120 Hz. Under the hood, it is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and received an impressive 12 GB of RAM combined with 512 GB of permanent memory.

The company claims to have used a separate image processor designed specifically for this smartphone. It delivers a peak performance of 28.8 TOPS with an energy efficiency of 13.4 TOPS per watt.
There’s a lot to look at.
The matrix of the main camera has an impressive size of 1/1.12 inch with a resolution of 50 megapixels, like the main model of the series. Improved image quality was made possible, among other things, thanks to 1.4 μm pixels and an improved 8P lens with an aperture of f/1.6. This once again proves that with all the seeming importance of a large camera resolution, an increase in the size of the sensor and a good fast lens bring much more benefit.
Other models also demonstrate decent characteristics. So the high-angle module has a 1/2-inch 64-megapixel sensor. And the viewing angle is slightly greater than that of the base model – 126 degrees. The 7P lens has an aperture of f/2.2 and a special coating.
Telemodule received a resolution of 64 megapixels and a lens with the equivalent of a focal length of 90 mm. There is even optical image stabilization so that there is no “stirring” on the pictures taken “from the hands”.
To make the pictures very good, the phone received an 8-channel sensor that determines the colour temperature of the ambient light. This minimizes the number of times an image becomes too blue (cold) or yellow (warm).
A place in the ranking is simply not given. Errors are possible, but even a place in the top three is worth a lot.
To top it all off, the front has a 12-megapixel camera and a 3D depth sensor for face recognition. It is responsible for unlocking the smartphone by face not with photo processing, but with the full construction of a 3D face model.
In the rest of the characteristics, too, everything is quite good. So the phone runs Android 12 out of the box. It is powered by a battery with a capacity of 4600 mAh and can be charged with a capacity of up to 100 W by wire and up to 50 W without wires.
How much does Honor Magic4 Ultimate cost
Honor Magic4 Ultimate is available in two colours – black and white. Although the exact launch date is not yet known, at the start, the phone will be sold only in China for 8,000 yuan. This is approximately 132,000 rubles at the rate at the time of writing the article. At this price, it can hardly be called massive. Moreover, with such money, you can buy a good camera that will shoot even better. But technology is expensive, and this rule cannot be changed.
