MIUI features that users don’t know about

In this guide, we’re going to discuss 5 MIUI tips and tricks that you may not have been aware of. So, let’s get started.

1. Second space

Xiaomi has integrated a special feature into smartphones that allow users to save personal data in a separate space. It is called the “second space”.

This is a completely different area in the phone’s memory, protected by a password. Users can use a different email ID to ensure data security. The second space looks like a new phone. It has no data from the existing store.

In the second space, you can install new apps, add new wallpapers, and even use a different launcher. You can also create a different unlock mode for it.

How do I enable a second space?

To enable the second space, go to the app drawer and open the Security app. Now scroll down to find the second space and click.

2. Broadcast the screen to TV or computer

Xiaomi’s MIUI has a unique broadcast tool that allows you to broadcast your device’s screen to any smart TV or PC. This tool was present in previous versions of MIUI, but Xiaomi has made some interesting changes to it with the MIUI 12.5 update.

Now you can hide your confidential data by clicking on it. The new update also allows you to hide incoming notifications and calls.

Not only that, but you can also minimize the screen you’re broadcasting and continue to use other apps at the same time.

To use the broadcast feature:

  • Go to Settings and click Connect & Share.
  • Now click on Cast and you’re done!

3. Image Blur Tool

This feature is more useful than it seems. It can save a lot of your time. We often take screenshots and share them with others, but often screenshots contain sensitive information that cannot be shared, so we blur or hide confidential information using a photo editor.

But with MIUI’s image blur tool, you can do this right after taking a screenshot. You can even crop a screenshot.

To use this feature:

  • Take a screenshot and click on the minimized window.
  • Select one of the provided blur functions.

4. Video Tools

This is one of my favourite MIUI tricks. The Video Toolbar lets you play video audio when the screen is off. If you like listening to music from video streaming platforms like YouTube, you’ll love this feature.

You can play your favourite playlist and turn off the screen to save your phone battery. This negates the entire purpose of a premium YouTube account (but you still get annoying ads).

The video toolbar will also help you in creating screencasts, the toolbar has a built-in broadcast button that allows you to broadcast the screen with a single tap.

To enable this feature:

  • Go to Settings and scroll down to find Special Features.
  • Now click on the “Video” toolbar and go to the toolbar settings.
  • Change the settings. Add YouTube to video apps by clicking Manage Video Apps.

5. Ultra battery saver mode

An ultra-battery can be extremely useful when the phone has a low charge and there’s a long day ahead. This feature increases battery life by up to 25%.

It limits the operation of most power-hungry applications and functions and reduces the performance of the device to ensure maximum standby time.

Once you turn on Ultra Battery Saver, you’ll only be able to use basic features like calling, cellular messaging, and network connectivity. If necessary, you can enable some of the necessary apps like WhatsApp and Telegram.

To enable ultra battery saver mode,

  • Go to Settings and scroll down to find Battery and Performance.
  • Now click “Ultra-Battery” and turn on the switch.
