The WhatsApp messenger team is testing the function of editing text messages. This feature should appear in the beta versions of the application for Android, iOS and PC. It is noteworthy that the developers announced it 5 years ago, but after a few days, they abandoned their plans. The issue of editing messages was raised again, and now this function has been launched.

According to the profile resource WABetaInfo, the edit button has already appeared in some participants of the WhatsApp test program for Android. The new function allows you to make changes to the text part of the message, for this you need to clamp it down and select the appropriate option in the drop-down menu.

It’s unclear whether users will be able to edit text messages at any time, or whether a certain period of time will be allotted for this. At this stage, there are no restrictions, but with the implementation of this function in the stable version of WhatsApp, everything can change. In the near future, users of beta versions of the application for iOS and PC will be able to edit messages.
